1997 or newer dodge dakota

I'm going to be getting my license in not to long so i have been looking at trucks and i'm thinkin i want a 1997 or newer dakota. Just wondering if if any one has some pros and cons, how good the v6's are on gas, any problems with them, and also this is going to be my first truck

Ball joints and automatic trannys sucked on them but i liked everything else about my old 99. Cant comment on the V6 as i had the V8 (16-18mpg).
