400 sx opinions

Guys,
Do any of you own a 400sx? I am looking fo a new four stroke mount and can't decide which one to get. I don't want a yz-426 as they are just too heavy and tall feeling for me. I like the 250-f, but just quite enough power.......the 520sx feels good too, but I could never hope to use quite that much power. Is the 400sx the answer to my needs? What is the pricing on an 02 model.....similar to the 520 I guess?

I have to admit I've only ridden my -02 520 SX, but I can't imagine getting the 400. The 520 has more power and very little added weight with the same ergos. The engine is so mellow in the lower revs that if you don't need the full power, just don't go WFO :)

If you lke the 250f, and want more power, you will LOVE the 400SX. My has some jetting mods, and a T-4 exhaust. It noticably out pulls/revs a stock 520 in the mid. If you wake up the 520 though, it's all over for the 400. It will not give you the 'gorilla' pull on top like the 520. The 400SX is in a completely different league in terms of starting versus the 250f. Even 1st time 4-stroke riders that try my bike can start it one kick.

Pricing is not that far off of the 250 f. $6298 retail. Remember all goodies you get with a KTM!

I love my 400 SX. I consistently pull holeshots against modded 250's, 426's and 520's. It's so smooth that's it's very deceiving......you don't realize how fast you going until you over jump something by a mile or miss a corner cause you were hauling a@#.

The dealer up here is selling '02 400 SX for $6098.00. There are used ones out there if your looking......I just sold my '01 for $5375.00.

I have a 2000 KTM 400 EXC and am having it revalved to ride MOTO more, it is soooo much easier to ride than the YZ400 I have. The SX has a lighter flywheel and will rev quicker which should make it perfect! I'ld go for the '01 or '02 because they are 6 speeds, better for trail riding.
