5' 105 lbs lady needs a bike

Hey ladies, i want to get a dirt bike for my wonderful girlfriend, she is 23 years old, and can drive a stick well and has experience on 1200cc 2 stroke jet skis. She never been on a dirt bike, and cant get a leg over my yz125. Id like to know whats a good bike being that she is only 5' tall and 105 lbs, she is athletic, and i was thinking a yz80 would be a good first bike just due to her size, if she was taller / heavier id throw her on a 250 four stroke but she could never ride one due to her size.

At that size, I would consider a TTR125 for a first bike. I started on a YZ80 and it was very difficult because the 80cc 2-strokes are pipey and like a light switch, on/off power, require smooth clutch work and controlling their hit (and keeping the front wheel down). The TTR125 four-stroke power is smoother and easier to handle for a new rider.

I agree - the TTR125 is a great bike to learn on. One other bike I would consider is the CRF230.

I almost think that at 5' the CRF230 would be too tall. Maybe a CRF150... The other bikes to consider are the KLX125, and the DRZ125. The Yamaha is by far the more popular of the 125's, so you should be able to find one used pretty darn cheap. I've seen '00-'03's for like $800-$1300. New ones really won't break the bank, but really, you can just pick a color and have fun!

The CRF230 has more motor/power, but the downside is that it's VERY heavy. I've ridden one at a local offroad park, and thought I was going to be able to toss it around because it's "smaller" than my 250F, but no way. I later looked up the weights....

The CRF230 weight a whopping 238 lbs!! That's 20 lbs more than a CRF450, and 35 lbs. more than my 250F. And 66 lbs. more than a TTR125L, which weighs in at 172 lbs. (the e-start model is 185 lbs.).
