My buddy picked up an '86 CR125 a couple weeks ago. He bought it off a guy that raced it back in the day, then let it sit in a barn. Guy claims to have put a new top end in it, piston and rings, and had the exhaust valve worked on. He has receipts for everything that he and the shop did to the bike. Its got a new plug and starts in one to two kicks.
Anywho, my buddy says it ran great for about a week. Lots of power, lifted the front in 1st thru 3rd with ease. Then about a week ago he calls me saying somethings wrong. I drove over and took a look at it and heres what I noticed:
-Lots of spooge coming out of the head.
-Bike wont idle.
-Really boggy and won't really rev out.
-At the top of each gear, it gets this vibrating gyro-effect thing going on and seems to be coming from the engine.
-Can't seem to get into the powerband (and when you do it last about a second and then bogs)
I'm not that mechanically inclined so I don't really know what to tell him. He seems to think it needs new reeds. Any help?
