I have a 97 KTM 250 EXC (for sale as a matter of fact, I just got an 01 300). Anyways, this is, in my opinion, a very good bike for trail riding, etc. Anything but motocross.

Mine has been extremely reliable, nothing but routine maintenance and not much of that - clean and oil air filter, change engine oil. That is just about it.

Seems to handle well enough for me (I'm a trail rider and a little slow at that) and has enough power too. Not as much as the XR down low, but enough, and way more in the midrange. Much lighter too, 227 dry. I can go about 90 miles on a tank of gas so lots of range.

Parts are, so far, no problem except for graphics. Now there are 2 sources, www.ktmworld.com and www.graphicmx.com

For me it would be no contest.

well, parts for the ktm are somewhat hard to find. my dad has a 97 300exc and he can't find parts very easily for his bike, although we live in san francisco, which lacks almost everything that has to do with motocross. just to let u know
