I really enjoy watching the UFC and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series on Spike TV. First got into it with TUF1 (Stephan Bonner vs. Forrest Griffin in the finale - what a fight!).

Not every fight is great, but some of them are awesome. Many of the guys have great skills and lots of heart. My wrestling/fighting days ended in about 8th grade, but it is cool to watch very dedicated athletes going at it in the octagon.

I live 3 miles from the UFC training facility. You should see the cars parked out front. Luxury/Exotic, you name it. Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Mercedes the list goes on. The dudes themselves police the place. You can sit outside and look through the windows. If you are really stupid you can probably try to go inside. I found it because my friend's wife who does my hair's salon is next door. The dudes are totally awesome. I have met Rich Franklin and Forrest Griffin and a few other dudes that are not as popular.

The UFC is the real deal, forget WWE, Boxing etc.

I watch it as much as I can. It's great how you never know how the fight is going to go.
I was never a boxing fan, just caught the first TUF show one day and have stuck with it. This latest group seems like a big group of punks, not as profesional as some of the other groups.

I used to watch it, back in the Royce Gracie/Ken Shamrock/Dan Severen days. There was a "David and Goliath" event that looked a little iffy (fixed) to me. Not long after that, they went to the new format with separate rounds and now they bring the fighters up to their feet if they don't look like they are doing anything. The current rules have taken a little of the "real" out of it, but I do sometimes watch a fight or two.

I remember once watching Gracie on his back, with the oponnent on top of him, for about 10 minutes. It looked like Gracie was being beaten until the other guy started tapping.

My son and I try to catch the matches more than the show. I think the latest bunch have a bad case of "little man".

I like to watch TUF, but mostly the matches when I can catch them.

Rampage vs Liddell was a big let down though.

My son almost got into it with Shamrock and another guy at a event a few years ago

My son is 6'2 and around 215# ( ex defender/enforcer hockey player ), anyhow, he's getting gas when this guy pulls in with a benz and the radio is blasting some gangest rap crap, so my son, being the smartass he is, turns up his system, well they exchanged some words and then both went back to pumping gas, before the guy left he walked of to Sean and asked if he was into gage fighting,( pre UFC ) which he said he was and the guy asked if he was head to the casino tonight, which Sean said he wasn't, the guy then handed Sean two tickets and said come watch me fight, well needless to say Sean had to stopped by the house to change his shorts before going to the fights. :yikes:

Later that night at the fights he was sitting behind some guy ( he had great seats ) who kept yelling at one of the fighters, Sean finally had enough and told the guy to either go in there and fight or shut the F up, the guy turned around and stared at him then walked down closer to the cage, later when he meet up with the guy who gave him the tickets, he found out the guy with the mouth was Shamrock

Since then Sean as been asked twice to spare with guys in training, both guys he has knocked out and has since been asked to get into UFC fighting , but has no interest

LOL! There's a BIG difference between wrestling/boxing/martial arts and full on beat till your bloody, broken or unconcious fighting. It is proven every UFC event that no matter how good you were last fight somebody else can come in and make you see stars or have you tap from the pain. I'd suggest before you even enter a local event get one or two guys you know can inflict some pain to crack ya' a few times and see if you like the feeling, the guys that excel don't mind it.

If your not mentally insane, you won't even make it close to the ufc. Some of those guys are real nuts. I've heard a few ufc guys screaming that they would kill the other by elbows, kicks, punchs etc. When they say kill, they probably actually mean it.

I think what you might be running in to is the typical response to the Internet tough guy. It happens a couple times a year on DRN, which is a dirt bike site! My point to you is that all the trainning in the world won't get a person ready mentally for seeing their own blood in their eyes, a mouse under your eye that closes it or just the feeling of being pummeled. Hey if you are one of the people that actually thrives in that type of situation and not just endures it good for you, but chances are your like the rest of us and prefer not to feel the pain even you you come out "the winner".

Yeah, I think alot of us know what it feels like to get popped and return fire as well. I think what Pat's trying to say is that it's an entirely different world. By all means...go for it. I think it's a great way to cleanse the gene pool. LOL

I watch as many matches as I can find. I usually don't tune into the UF show until the last 15/20 minutes or so. I want to see the match, not the manufactured drama.

i didnt mean to get so defensive but i wouldnt be doing as much as i am right now if i didnt seriously think about it first. ive taken plenty of hits and bled in boxing and i dont mind because it just makes me mad and do better. i have thought about it for a long time and have decided i want to be in the ufc. and to tell u the truth i dont care what anyone thinks.

and i am not an internet whatever you called it. just please believe me on that. i dont lie to make myself look cool or hardcore or watever.
