Hey everyone, well I'm getting back into riding and have settled down in western WA. I'm close to seattle, just about 15 mins north of downtown. Just wondering where the closest places to ride are to me. Also, do any of you do organized rides? I don't really know many people out here and thought this could be a cool way to meet other people. Its been years since I rode and can't wait to get a new bike and hit the trails. Thanks for the help

Hmmm, I don't know of alot of big places to ride, but I know some smaller places down by Moses Lake and stuff. Kinda dusty riding but it's fun. I usually ride at a place called Crescent Bar, which I think is like privately owned but a fun place to ride. It's alot of open land that gets really sandy the farther you go and there are big 'ol draws you gotta hillclimb. There are some challenging things to ride there. I also ride pretty close to home somtimes. I know of a place that is woods riding and is a really narrow trail that is rocky at the bottom with a monster hill, then at the top, it's so nice. Good place to ride because once you get up high enough, you feel like you're on top of the world. I think there's some sort of race in Spokane that is like a harescramble or something in march. I wanted to go last year but with an XR 100 I don't think it would have been all that great. I want to go this year and make a trip out of it.

What type of riding do you want to do? If your looking for offroad areas check out www.nmaoffroad.com they list many, but not all, of the riding areas in the state. My favorite place to ride is Reiter Trails near Stevens pass. It's about 1 hr from Seattle. There's also Capitol forrest. There are lots of maintained trails that make loops as large as 60 miles I think. And there's an ORV park there too. If your into MX, there's a track in Monroe. And there's several series going on right now. There's the arenacross, Oakwood (which I just got home from racing), and Mud Slingers. Hope this helps. Let me know if you wanna go riding on a monday. I try to ride every monday.

Thanks for the replies...

I guess it would help if I actually HAD a dirtbike. I'm doin all my research on the bikes first so hopefully I won't buy something I'll regret. Its been a long time since I rode, but I'm dying to get back on two wheels.

I'm mostly interested in woods/trails type of riding. Those were some cool riding pics of those mountain peaks. That's the type of riding I'd like doin. But hey, when I do get a new bike I'll repost and see if we can get some ridin in. Until then, thanks

ryan,
there's some really good trail riding areas just a short drive from seattle.

hondaxrguy made a small mistake in the website for the NMA, its www.nmaoffroad.org

close to seattle:
right now there's Reiter trails(by goldbar), Tahuya( by belfair), & Walker Valley(by marysville).
some indoor MX racing going on in different places: oakwood, puyallup, monroe...

in the spring: capitol forest, and many others are open for use and accessible up in the cascades.
MX tracks also start up thier series' in locations all over the state.

just pick your poison. :p
once you've got the steed, i'll be glad to meet up with you & go riding, i am very familiar with reiter and tahuya and want to go to other areas more.
