Take off the nut, and then remove the bolt holding the original lever. Apply a small amount to all contact points to reduce friction. Put the new lever in place, re-install the bolt (being careful to align the holes). Once it is snug, put the nut on and tighten it up. If this is done properly, and you have the correct lever, then it should work fine.
