I'm 6'1" and replacing the bars on my 1998 KDX200. I've read that the standard bars are too short for taller riders. Would KX tall bars be the ticket?

pardon my ignorance on whether this has been answered a million other times!

I'm nearly 6"6' and all I did was spin the bar clamps 180 degrees which moves your bars further forward and I got a set of CR high bend bars. I find that its fine room wise and height wise.....Just a thought...

My Dad and Uncle both have KDX's my Dad is about 6' 2" and my uncle is about 6', they both like the high bars better, I'm 5' 9" and I even like the high bars better than the stock ones. I believe we also turned the clamps around too.

On my 1999 220R, I flipped the bar holders around and I've found the TAG CR double high bars fit me perfect (5' 11"). You might enjoy the magazine TRAIL RIDER as they've had some excellent bike set-up articles, one tells you to mount your bike on a work stand, get up on it, stand up straight, hands to your side, head slightly over bars, close your eyes and reach for the bars and they should be right there in your palms like secound nature ( of course you have to rotate your bars forward or back to tweak). It worked for me.....Hope this helps.

I got a one piece clamp and used the old top clamps as risers.
Flip the clamps and let them rest on the bottom clamps. Place the
bars on those clamps and then the one piece clamp. I used some old
fork bolts that are longer than standard bar bolts. This raises the bar
about one inch. Also I use the CR high bend. No problems for four years.

Post a picture of that if you can - it sounds pretty funky.
