Hey guys I've got a question about the bearings in my '01 125sx. I'm replacing the transmission bearings and have replacements that appear to be equivalent except the oem bearings have plastic cages ( for the ball bearings). I've looked into the classifications, tolerances, etc. and the only thing different is the lettering designating a polimer cage. Why did the oem spec these type of cages and will it be a problem to substitute an equivalent bearing with a metal cage? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

The non-metal bearing races are better suited for high speed or other harsh enviroments. The "plastic" will allow the bearing balls to rotate with less friction and they CAN help in the corrision area also. They SHOULD work just as well as the same rated metal caged ones.
