I crashed for the first time on my ktm today and it wasnt a big crash but yet i twisted the handlebar clamp. It looks like a quite weak design and it may be enought with a better bar clamp. But im also looking on a tripple clamp kit and wonder if its worth it. With a good handlebar clamp or trippleclamp kit and a o.d handlebar, will i still break or bend anything do you think? My last bike i had a pro-taper o.d handlebar and stock trippleclamps and it worked fine but i only crashed on sandtracks.

Triple clamp will be a definite improvement, however when it comes to dropping bikes it's a real lottery with damage. I've bust nothing after a huge get off and then gone home and let it accidentally flat fall when I was propping it up against the garage wall and bent and busted a whole bunch of stuff. Research the bar tapers when you get your new clamp.... compare the stats with a friends setup if you know his specs and choose one that suits your body position when standing on the pegs. Good position might stop a few unplanned dismounts.
Hehe I've bent alota bars :yikes:

I found out that its not only the handlebar mounts thats bad designed but also the contact area against the trippbleclamp is too small. On impact the force squeeze the aluminum so its not flat anymore, making the handlebar sitting twisted. Unless i can i find handlebar mounts that utilize more off the surface on the trippleclamp i think a new trippleclamp is the only way to go.
