I am in the difficult position of having my wife's best friend making overt passes at me, and all but outright asking me for, well, you know...I have never been in a spot like this, and I don't know how to deal with it. Do I tell, and break up a long-time friendship? Do I ignore it and hope it will go away? If I do tell, will I be believed, or be seen as the bad guy in this? I have told her there is no chance of me cheating on my wife, and she just laughs and tells me she will win me over with her wiley ways. Why do people do things like this, putting others in very difficult positions???:o

Which long-time friendship are you worried about most? Yours with your wife or your wife and her back stabbing friend? Do what your heart tells you. Video one of the overt come-ons and let your wife just happen to find it in the VCR. Good luck, I don't envy you at all.
I'm with BSWIFT, I don't envy you at all. She could get really POed, and give your wife the exact opposite of what you just told us. Sorry Spanky, but if my gf's best friend ever came on to me, my gf would be the first to know. There is now way in HELL that a real friend should act like this. If I have to be the evil, friendship breaker upper guy in order for my gf to see whats really going on, well I can live with that.
I'm with the other guys. Tell your wife ASAP. It's her you are interested in protecting (and your piece of mind). She will figure out the best way to have YOU handle it.

Way I see it...
If your wife and this gal are very best friends, then it's a one sided affair if this girls is hitting on you. I mean, she really isn't your wifes friend or she would not act like that.
OR....she really is your wifes best friend, and in that case....you are being set-up my friend!:)
My advise is to, in either instance, tell your wife as soon as you can. Throw lots of butter on it too...but I can tell you from experience...if you are being set-up, then your wife has a reason to do this. Maybe you should go to confession real quick before you tell her, make sure you are squeaky clean first!:D It may be a bumpy ride, best of luck my friend! :p

I would have to agree with most of the responces so far. You should avoid all one on one contact with this woman. She is not your wife's friend, I would say that she is envious of your wife and all that she has. She is out to destroy your family enough said. She may not even truely want to be with you (or you may melt her butter), she may just want to prove that she can have you to feed her ego and prove her self better then your wife. You know your relationship better then anybody, so you need to weigh your actions.

That is exactly what I am afraid of. These two are inseperable long-time friends, and I am afraid that she could convince my wife that I am lying, because, after all, men are pigs, right? Then where does that leave me? With a rabbit boiling on my stove?:eek:

The more I think about it, the more I realize you are right, marcus. I had just been blowing her advances off, hoping she would get the message, but she apparently either doesn't take the hint, or it is some kind of challenge for her to see if she can get me between the sheets despite my unwillingness. The problem that I see with this type of ultimatum is that it doesn't erase the passes she has already made. I am still unsure as to whether or not I should just tell my wife anyway, just so there are no skeletons left in the closet.

Skeletons in the closet?? From your description of the situation you have none to worry about, but if you have even one little one kicking around you may be in for a bumpy ride my friend(the gals don't seem to like those bones much/as far as that goes us guys aren't to fond of them either). Still IMO honesty is the best policy-this kind of stress will age you quick.
