I need your opinions. I am looking at the Gas Gas TXT 321 and the new Sherco's, which would be your pick? I am around 200 lb's now, could trim considerably. I am looking right now for a demo '01 model but I think I waited too late, the '02's are out now. Thanks in advance...

You may not be too late. Click HERE and you may be able to turn up a demo bike. Don't know if he has a 321 but I'm pretty sure the 280 is still available. Tell him Pat from Austin sent ya'.:D

Thanks patman I emailed them last weekend, and they are all out. Someone named Leslie emailed me back. I guess they aren't making the 321 for '02 and that was the one I was looking for. I have been reading about the Sherco's and those look like a nice machine too. The only thing about them is they are somehow affilliated wuth Bultaco, and from I don't remember hearing much good about them when I was a kid. A dealer in Siloam Springs, AR thinks he might be able to find a 321 but I haven't heard from him yet. I'm also looking at a '76 Honda TL125 but only because I'm a bit of a vintage freak.

Leslie is the owner and a great guy, too bad he's cleaned out I'm sure he'd of made you a great deal. Personally if it were me choosing between the Sherco and GasGas I'd go with the Sherco but then again I ride a Montesa so...:D

If you can, ride both bikes before you buy, choose the one you feel the most comfortable with. In fact, try riding more brands if you can. Are you friends with any of the Oklahome trials riding folks like Gerald Tims or Shan Moore? I'm sure they'd let you check out there bikes -- better yet, go to one of the next trials event in your area or travel to a dealer that has several new and used trials bikes for sale that will let you demo them. We do that at our place, I'm sure there's a dealer close to you (Gerald Tims) that can also let you demo bikes.

Just keep in mind that there's no flawless dirtbike out there and that includes trials bikes, each brand will have certain engineering traits that should have been done differently. But, they are all very good quality and you'll have a great time and be able to ride anyone you get. Rider's skills are more important than the bike!

I bought a Sherco and am very happy. I did a lot of research before buying (as I know nothing about trials), and basically found that it is hard to go wrong with any of the newer bikes. All are very reliable and user friendly. I comes down to who the dealer is (very important) and the support you get. Ryan Young in the Sherco importer and I have yet to hear anyone say anything negative about the guy (or the way he supports the product). I have a 250 and it is more than enough power. In fact, if I was buying new, I would strongly consider a 200 (by the way, i'm around 190+ lbs). I recently read an independant test of all the new bikes...I'll try to find it and post the link.

Ok, here it is click
Now, this is an Spanish site, so you will have to use a translation website here If you type (copyt and paste) the URL into the "webpage" box, it will convert most of the text.

When the page opens, you will click the little #7 flag on the left of the page to go to the actual test sites. They are very will done, although some of the translation is a little odd.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys. A dealer offered to sell me a '02 TXT321 for $4600 OTD, does that sound like a good deal? (I have a farm tax number, a trials bike sure would be handy out on the farm hehehe) I recently acquired some land in eastern OK, look at this link for pictures and you might see why I want to get into trials:

Trialwrench- the closest dealer I am aware of is Siloam Springs, AR. Where is this Gerald Tims located? I would like to try some bikes out before I buy.

JTT- the Sherco bikes look very impressive, I looked at some info on the net and looks like very good worksmanship. I'm still trying to figure out the translator for your link...

Does look like "Trial Heaven" ;)

If you open the translator program, you will see a line where you can insert a URL or web page address. Now, when you opened the site in Spanish, just copy the URL and paste it into the translator box, select "Spanish to English" and your off!
