Evidently, four years is all the shear pin on my Scotts damper can handle. It's 4.5mm diameter, appears to be aluminum. Anyone found anything that works as a temporary fix, until I can get a replacement?
I make mine out of round steel stock from the local hardware store. Simply bring in the old base to get the diameter correct, cut to the proper length, then grind down the top portion to fit. total cost is around $2.00.
