I hadn't really given it much thought, but I have a buddy in New Orleans that was so offended by Bubba's post-race celebration that he wrote a communication to Mr. Whitelock about it. He was at the race, and described the reaction to the "worm dance" as less than enthusiastic.

I saw a bit of it on the TV coverage, IMHO it looked pretty silly is all.

Anybody else think it was out of line?

The only thing I can think of would be that it was unprofessional, like that football player that carried the sharpie marker on him so he could sign the ball when he scored. But even then, it's not that bad. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was offensive.

I'm thinking of writing a letter to Mr Whitelock as well. Asking for his resignation. I don't think the guy has a clue as to how to run the organization or how to regulate the sport. I'm surprised Bubba didn't loose 10 points and 2 positions for rubbing the dirt the wrong way. Plain & simple, Bubba can do what he says he's going to do. The kid is going to be the highest sought after rider by next year. Worm dance, whatever. I think the kid was sending out a message, ... "Bring it ON!" ...

I think it's cool to see a guy rolling around on the ground, like a jack ass, because he won a support class. I'd be happy if I never had to see that again.

Silly... yeah.... but he's a kid! And he's full of energy!

And... the crowd LOVED it!

Get over it. Hmm, what would I rather see:

(A) Kelly Smith go all Mike Tyson on Fonseca
(B) Ronron and Vuillemin have a bitchslap contest
(C) Larocco punch Pastrana
(D) Bubba do a silly celebration dance

I would go with (D)

I hope he dances this weekend in Minneapolis!! Maybe I'll bust a move too. :joke:

I agree with Nikki. It shows that he's enthusiastic and is really having A LOT of fun! Pastrana was the "Gee Whiz Kid". Let Bubba be a kid too. If I won a race, I don't know if I could contain myself either. He's embarrassing no one but himself and if you find that "offensive", get a grip!

There is a time and place for everything. Winning a supercross is the perfect time for a celebration. Maybe Windham will moonwalk Saturday night! Let Bubba dance!

"Offended" by it? You've got to be joking... I can think of a lot of feelings one could have when viewing the Bubba "dance" but "offended" enough to write to complain?

It just proved that just because you can do one thing better than anyone else, doesn't mean that you're best at everything .

Gotta admit, it takes big ones to get out there in front of a crowd and do something you KNOW you can't do. I actually didn't like it very much myself though, and I hope he backs it off a little bit. I liked the innocent, but cocky new kid bit better.

What's wrong rat? Already sensing that problem RC's gonna have next year?

The people that put James down for his celebration are idiots. He can't even buy a beer and has more money than most of you can dream of. YOU would be dancing around too, not to mention the fact that hes the fastest racer in the world. Just because your not from his generation and don't share his enthusiasm for life doesn't mean that what he did was "unprofessional" or childish. Give him a break, hes enjoying life and living it up, don't be put off or angry at someone else's joy for life and happiness.

sheesh, it ain't like Justin Timberlake caused Bubba to have a "wardrobe malfunction" and we saw Bubba's nipple jewelry.

I tell you what, write this down: When I win the COTT at DW04, I will do a Worm Dance, then a Moonwalk. Take it to the bank. :aj:

What's Up With The Lid?

Enough about the worm dance. What happens in Texas stays in Texas.

More importantly why doesn't he put his hat on like everyone else? The sideways over the top thing looks stupid. Did he have a hair malfunction so his hat won't fit anymore or is the gangsta thug look the new craze?

I think that it was a bit much. If the riders werent pi$$ed off that hes in the 125 class and still smokin 'em they were prolly mad that he was doin the worm when the crossed the finish line. And sumone needs to school that kid on how to do the worm, too, i mean c'mon i seen girls do it better.

I'd give my left nad if I could ride like that kid. I can already dance bad. Lighten up, man, doesn't anyone remember what things they did at 17? I was trying to disco to "stayin alive" And I didn't have a dollar to boot. If I would have had the jack and talent this kid does I wouldn't care what anyone else thought.

Since when are people with a lot of money above criticism?

It doesn't mean it wasn't, either.

I agree with crmx91, in principle. It's much ado about nothing.
