cant tell what year ktm 520 i just bought

title says 01 but it was advertized as a 02 520 mxc. i was told to look at the vin # for the 10th digit and that will tell what year it is. is that true? my 10th digit on frame and paperwork is a 2. bike has orange side number plates and a big fuel tank were the radiator shrouds actullaly hold fuel.

i believe it is an 02 going by the 10th digit
