Carb boring DIY?

Anyone bore their own carb to 36mm? I'm assuming only the intake side needs bored?

I'm sure that some folks have tried it and failed miserably! I think that you need some precision equipment in order to dial it in to 36 +/- 0.05 ish mm's. If you can find a machine shop that has the right equipment, they could do it for you pretty easily I would think.

but there are very small holes in the bore of most carbs that will probably need cleaned out. there are several machinist by trade the forum here and I have not heard of them dyi

I was thinking the 200 had a 33mm carb? Apparently, it's a 35, and the 220 has the 33? Sorry, I had it bass ackwards.

I have a lathe, and am pretty confident I could do it, but why chance it for only only 1mm bigger. :coocoo:

yep I would'nt I think the motor is perfect in every way with the fmf pipe and a 13-50 sprocket setup I luged the heck out of it in the deep mud/water a few days ago I do know I will be looking at a clutch soon

A 35mm carb is huge for a 200cc bike. I don't think the KDX200 is under-carbed in any way shape or form.
You are right: that's a negative cost/benefit ratio to bore the carb 1mm.
