hey, anyone have any tips for climbing sandpit walls? how much throttle, seat postion, accelerate up or keep it steady? any help would be great as i've been thinking of tackling the pit wall down the road a bit.

I don't know what your sandpit wall looks like, but whenever I hit a vertical obstacle I try to approach it with enough speed to get off the top with the throttle off, that way I don't destroy the line for myself or whoever else might wanna try.

lol

ive seen many ppl do it, and i thought it was a fairly normal thing to do? ive never gone all the way up it, but ive done a loop about halfway up it.it is scary and sometimes i bog down, and roll down the wall lol, luckily but then again unluckily it is soft sand, if it helps at all i ride a 250 2 stroke.

Oh, your talking about a steep hill. Just hit it as fast as possible. Hit the bottom of the hill standing up leaning back and grip the bike with your knees, that way if there's soft sand that everyone else roosted down you wont wash out. Then adjust body position for max traction without looping out. Keep the gas on as much as possible and downshift as your speed drops, keep a finger on the clutch case you bog out a little. Its probably ok to sit down.

Indy beat me to it. Why tell people you have pics of something if they can't see it. Become a subscriber and you will be able to post pics.

Huh.. You could have posted something along the lines of "Hey, I don't know how to posts pics, or I would"..

I have only contradicted you on here (this wasn't a contradiction, just pointing out where you provided useless information) when you posted something untrue.

hmm

well it just seems to me that when i post something, other people post useful things and over look my ignorances, while you purposefully point out my flaws, perhaps i am just taking your constructful critisism for negative. o well. and mopar man, it should be on its way if i can dig the pic out. thanks

I'd say that's about right.. I have no problem with you or anyone else on here, for that matter.. But when you post something that is obviously of no use, I may point it out.

For a hill like that where you get near the top and circle back down, you need to stay on the gas the whole time until you are coming straight back down the hill. A common mistake is to let off the gas as you start to make the turn, usually resulting in falling over at the apex.

If you want to go straight up it and over, you will want to get all of your speed before hitting the hill, as you will likely only lose speed as you climb.

If things go bad, I prefer the bike make it...

While some people prefer that the bike enjoy as much of the fall as they do...

I sort of dislike doing it that way since even though gravity usually has a greater attraction to me than my bike, it somehow finds a way to fall faster and enjoys grabbing me on it's way by and pummelling me as much as it can the rest of the way down the hill.

If I had your big ole butt sitting on me, I would take every opportunity for revenge, too! :nener:
