Coolant leak from top of engine

I just put new rings in this bike, along with a complete top end gasket set from Cometic. Everything runs fine, but at the top of the cylinder head where the upper radiator hose goes into the engine, there is a leak at that metal "elbow" piece (the piece that has the bleeder screw). Coolant weeps out of the front and collects around the spark plug area. It does this when it's not running, and leaks worse when the engine is running.

So last night I took the elbow off, scraped both sides with a razor blade really well, made sure there were no nicks in the metal, and installed a new Kawasaki OEM gasket, and buttoned everything back up...and it still leaks just like before. Any ideas on what to try next?
