cr85 water and oil seals - which way !!

just wandering if anyone can help as i have removed the oil seal and water seal from the crankcase of the water pump but in my haste i cannot remember which way around the seals need to be put back in .
can anyone help.

look at your seals, there's a spring around the inner part of the seal, which holds it tight against the water pump shaft.

That spring should be facing the liquid side.

So, on the water seal, put the spring toward the impeller and the oil seal spring toward the engine.

Next time, take your time taking things apart, and you will be able to put it back together without any hassle... ;)

Sounds like words of experience! ;)


Indy's right. Look very closely at everything you take apart. Take notice of the smallest details. Use a scratch pad to jot down some notes if it's gonna be a big job. TAKE YOUR TIME, TAKE YOUR TIME, TAKE YOUR TIME. Pictures can help, especially for tranny or suspension work.
