my friend knows someone selling a 2001 crf230. he wasnt 2500 for it, and at hollinks they want 4600. he said its stock except for the white bros. pipe on it. he also said it has low hours on it. and it was stored for a few years. does anyone know anything about this bike, because i have only ridden the 450. if the power exceeds that of my old xr250, i may really think about buying it. i am not sure though because i ahve never ridden one.

The CRF230 isn't very different than a XR200/250. It's a big play bike, not a serious trail or track machine.

the CRF is heavy and slow. i would opt for a CRF250X or the R, try to stay away from the 230 they are not great bikes, like RV6 said they are only a play bike.

Pretty sure the CRF230 WAS NOT available in 2001.
