On my brothers 95yz80 the dowles on the crankcase that align the cylinder are corroded(sp?) and now after trying to remove them all messed up. Any good ideas on how to remove a stuck dowel? I tryed removing the entire stud but the 2 nuts i put on there keep spinning. Should i hold the top nut while turning the bottom? Could i just grip the stud its self w/ vise grips and turn it? It isnt a lefty thread is it? I have penetrating oil on it now although i doubt it will help. Also where can i get new dowles? Would sears have any? Or are they specific?

I now have the stud off but the dowel is still stuck in there! How can i get it out? Has anyone ever punched it from the side to get it to cave in, then just work your way around?

Yup, that's what I would do. Or maybe "hollow" it out with a dremel and collapse it.
Be super slow and careful.

I pulled one the other day by putting a nail in my vise. I used one small enough to fit inside the dowell. The head of the nail will then grip the side of the dowell.

Usingg a Rubber mallet, I tapped the cylinder a few times and it was out.
