I am >50 and my son rides a TT-R125. He wants me to go riding with him next week. I have been threatening to get a bike and this is my best excuse. So, I am considering the following (I am a new rider 6 foot 215 lbs): Yamaha TT-R250, Suzuki DRZ 250, and Suzuki DRZ 400E
Any other suggestions? Any Opinions? (I was leaning toward the TT-R250). Thanks for your input and time.

CaNaDiAn,Eh?

From what I've heard the TT-R 250 seems to be a very heavy bike, it probably wouldn't be to bad for trail riding but the DRZ would probably be a bit better. Your best bet would probably be to get a KDX 200 or 220. They are great bikes that will go anywhere!!!!

The KDX are nice bikes but I wanted to stay with the 4 strokes as I need the green sticker here in Ca. Thanks

I would get the DRZ 400 b/c the DRZ 250 seems like it would be low on power. The TTR 250 is a PIG,DOG,SLOW,and not a good bike from what I heard about it on this place. I have a KDX 200 and my buddy has a DRZ 400 and they are pretty even on power for the most part. The drz is a little bit heavier but not much. I would suggest either the DRZ 400 or KDX 200

I think I have narrowed it down to DRZ 400 and maybe a KTM. Now I am also deciding whether to go with a new DRZ 400 for 5400 otd or a used 400 (2001 noe elc start) for 4000 otd (with many upgrades such as fineline, triple clamps, GPR, larger tank, FMF pipe, jetted). I have been reading lately that the KTM may not be a good newbie bike. Any comments? Thanks for your responses.

Just to stir it up, but are there any 250's that would work, like the new CRF 250X? Don't forget my 6" and 215 lb size. Thanks again
