Well, i have an 06' TTR-230 and it has a D.I.D. 520v2 chain on it. its an O-ring chain.My question is, can i purchase a regular non o ring chain and put it on this bike?
Before you buy a chain what kind of riding do you do?
If you ride woods that frequently have water crossings then buy the o ring. If you always ride MX tracks or fields in the back 40 then a standard chain should do just fine for you

Run to the DID website (google DOD chain to find it) and compare the strength and longevity between their chains to help understand the benefits of the o-rings. If you still don't get it, the start digging for every bit of info that you can find. I have just ordered the standard O-ring over the ERT2 based on longevity despite a reduction in strength because it looks like it will better suit my riding style and budget.
