Sometimes it makes no difference how you act or present yourself, I don't mean to burst your bubble but that's the truth. If a judge is a tough one, he won't care. In the end, act courtious and respectful and no matter the outcome, you still won, you didn't let some hardass bring you down, bottom line. I can tell you first hand that there are some out there in law enforcement that act tough and think that makes them better. We've been over this topic before and it stil comes out the same, they are still human and there are turds in all professions. Be smart, don't get in a pissing contest cause their ego will override the situation and you will lose, it ain't worth it.
Like I said, present your case in an orderly fashion with facts, admit what you did was not right but you just ask that he hears you out. Don't argue with him or the Officer, don't tell the Officer how it happened, you ask questions of him about the case, don't give him your opinion about it. If you have no questions, talk to the Judge and tell him your side. Tell him you are in school, if you are, and that you are looking to the future in regards to the financial aspects of the outcome. Your intent was to get back home, but unfortunately, due to the circumstances, you had to go outside the legal boundries of the vehicle code. If you are found guilty, the Judge can suspend a fine or allow other alternatives to keeping it off your record. In the end, he can do what he wants. Don't say things like, "There are other things he could be doing instead of stopping me for no reason". If the Officer didn't let you explain what happened, then tell the judge that you didn't have a chance to explain and that's what you are here for. Good luck
