after a trip over the bars and into a thorn bush at DW I've ended up with a broken foot, I thought I could just deal with it, but it seems to have gotten worse. So after a trip and some X-rays Doc tells me no riding for at least 6 weeks. :( But on the bright side I'll be ready to go for Reno. And with no riding for a while it will make saving up for a new bike a little easier.

So wile some down time on my hands any one know of any good books?

Jeremy McGrath's book "Wide Open" was a good read. I just finished "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson....a very good read indeed.

Heal fast and heal well.

Dang, you must be one tough dude! I didn't even know you were hurt at DW. Get well and save for that new bike.

See you at Reno 2005.

Regarding books, have you read Monkey Butt by Rick Sieman? Great read about the early days of dirtbikes.

Bummer dude! If they had an award for most time over the bars at DW you by far would have taken it home!

If you like horror books I recommend "The Unwanted" by John Saul...I couldn't put it down.

Damn Marines, leave the flying to the Air Force! :rotfl:

Sorry you're hurt, good time to give the bike a new top-end and grease the linkage though.

Kav all of these are available at White Horse Press.
-Observed Trials by Bernie Schreiber
-Motocross and Off-Road Motorcycle Performance Handbook by Eric Gorr (also avaiable from Eric's site)
-Leanings: The Best of Peter Egan from Cycle World Magazine

The Lance Armstrong books are each a good read and the McGrath book is OK but I burned through it in 2 evenings.

Heal up buddy!

Sorry to hear about that, Kav. Good thing you got in a lot of riding during DW, before you realized it was broken. ;)

Better to heal up and ride another day, than to cripple yourself permanently. 6 weeks, huh? How about "War and Peace"?

If you like SciFi, Tad William's "Otherland" series will keep you busy for awhile...

Bummer Kav. :( Just when we're getting into the good part of the year for riding out here in SoCal. Well at least you should be healed up in time for the second half of the season. You'll have to come riding in the desert after you heal. There's less thing to run into out there. Or we could plan a trip, after Reno, to the Dunes. You may go over the bars there, if you dig the front tire in, but the landing is a lot softer.

Bummer Kav. I hope you recover soon. Somehow I don't see you as the type to be happy while sitting on your arse.

I'm reading a few books right now that are hard to put down...

'Chasing The Devil' by Sheriff David Reichert
'Beyond Recognition' by Ridley Pearson
'The Gift of Fear' by Gavin De Becker

I got it on Friday and finshed it last night. that was an awesome book!

the best line in there was when MC was talking about the movie Motocrossed:

A French rider is hired to take Andrea's spot on the team and portrayed as a sterotypical rude Frenchman. It would have been much easier if they had just gotten David Vuillemin to play the part.

Glad you liked it  The book does give you a good idea how hard it is to make it in the MX/SX game. Even if you have talent!

That DV12 comment is funny :rotfl:
