Jeff, check out this thread: http://www.dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread.php?t=88179
I think you'll find some good information.
If you are going to replace the unit, might as well go with the best.
Not that the YZ unit is inferior, there just might be a better choice.
Make sure you tie the tie down strap once you are down. Right at the buckle. This way if it does slip the knot will hold it. Another thing I do is put a bungee cord from the bottom hook to the top hook. ( on the same stap) this way if the bike bounces around and the strap loses some tention on it the hook wont come out because the bungee will keep tention on the hooks. I have seen few bikes street and dirt fall off trailer and pickups. I have been doing this and I still have mine. give it a try it cant hurt.
Hope you are ridding soon.
I just put a piece of rope securing the front wheel to the tray / trailer. Thats along with decent quality straps. 1 on each side of the bars, 1 under the back fender to stop the back moving and the rope around the front wheel. They dont move a MM.
Thanks for all of the ideas and help finding the Master cylinder. I bought one yesterday from that link posted.... ended up being 104.00 due to the 04's are not the same as the 03's master cylinder..... or the guy was full of it? Thanks again Jeff.
maybe I missed somebody suggesting this...try an ATK/ADB bike shoe.A bike will not come loose.Although I never had a bike come loose,I have heard of this and it was pretty scary. If you try one of these bike shoes, you'll never go back to tie downs.
