DW Livin'

Howdy all,

What hotel is closest to the track? Actually, how far away is the closest hotel? Yeah that's what I wanna know. I'm still up in the air about my RV situation so now I'm thinking a hotel will be a good backup; I wanna be close to the action! Plus, I think I'm supposed to be washin bikes at the end of each day...

Hotel!! only for pansies like Wrench. the evenings @ DW are when the real fun begins. You can always camp out in that nice new trailer that you have.

Yeah, but when we were at TNT you were telling me how nice it was to have a shower then I felt bad b/c I was stinky...j/k

I've heard the nights are awesome at DW but I don't think I can handle a week of trailer living and I'm having trouble finding an RV (C class--just like me) to rent. I would prefer to stay at the track, but hanging out late and driving a short distance back to my temporary "crib" might not be too bad.

What are your plans? I'm open to suggestions.

Oh yeah, I bet you forgot about it but I couldn't find that picture of Deegan I was telling you about when we were in SC. I said I would send it to you and I just can't find it online anymore....

Best Western 405-377-7010
Days Inn 405-743-2570
Fairfield Inn 405-372-6300
Holiday Inn 405-372-0800
OSU Student Union Hotel 405-744-6835
Motel 6 405-624-0433

The Motel 6 and Holiday Inn are the closest (pretty sure), 10-15 minutes from Cooperland.

DO NOT DELAY if you'll be getting a room, we almost ran-out last year. Stillwater is a college town, there's always something going on.

There is a home OSU football game on OCT. 2!! Getting rooms the last Friday & Saturday of DW will be a problem if you don't reserve early!!

It's pretty common for several DRN'ers to go in on a room and use it for showers, etc. while camping at Cooperland... best of both worlds and cheap! Just work out a shower schedule :p

MEW, if you forgo the the shower once or twice you won't be the only stinky bastage there I promise you. Pack a tent in that purty truck of yours, hook up your trailer, and point it in the direction of C-land. The details will work themselves out once you get there.

Don't forget that if you need a shower there is the SPODE WASH! Even has hot water!

MEW also consider shackin' up with some other DRN'ers in a rental RV. There are a few places that rent them in OK so you don't even have to drag/drive it across the country. DougRoost and I shared a RV last year and it was perfectly comfortable we even had the local Fox rep spend a night in one of the bunks on his way home from a week of travel so there was 3 of us.

Motel 6 may be the ticket. Guess I'm a pansie too.
MEW, If you'd be willing to drag an extra bike with ya (mine) I'm sure we can get you some plumbing

Spodewash is already coming together in my backyard. Check out the Dirtweek confirmed thread for a photo ...

Hot and Cold running water ... $2.00 a shower.

Camp Tejas is taking reservations as well. It will be full size this year. We will not have the Txbigguy and grill combo this year though ... :whiner:

If you do stay in a motel, get your reservations early. Stillwater is a college town and rooms have been difficult to get for extended periods close to the date because of football games.

Nightlife ... this is just before GSR sent Eddie out to tell us to pipe down and go to bed ...

It can be proven that alcohol does not burn or all the folks waving would be on fire ... :p

MEW - right now i'm getting ready to sell my RV (30' class A - slightly used) due to my marital situation (Tomorrow's the D day). So i will most likely be camping at DW. If it is not sold by October i will "borrow" it from Wendy for the week and would have a space for you. But right now i would not plan on that.

Disclaimer:
I'm sure Lou would prefer to forget this Little Ricky event as even though he is one of the best people you can meet, had DW staff witnessed said "fire ride" event, Lou would have been asked to leave (once in a condition to drive). Lou is me bro and (now) a moderator of DRN, just proof that even the best of us can emit brain farts. Sorry Lou, but someone else brought it up, so you get to be the example. Nothing personal, okay?

No matter who you are... once you pop that can of beer (or any alcohol), if you get on or ride a motorized vehicle at DirtWeek, you will be escorted from the premises. I can't make it clear enough... there is ZERO TOLERANCE. You take ONE SIP of alcohol and then start a motorized vehicle...You are gone... on the spot. No Refund. No questions, no excuses.

Party, have fun. Remember there are kids around, don't do anything stoooooopid. Simple.

This has been a public service announcement from your friends at DRN. We now return you to your regular scheduled programing.

I want to echo what Okie said about alcohol.

As much fun as we always kept riding and alcohol separated with the exception of this little incident. It was a brain fart on all of our parts, because collectively we were significantly less smart than individually. :ugg:

Lou, didn't mean to embarrass you. Everyone in the second picture and the idiot taking the photo (me) deserve some of the blame for the results.

Not a problem. As of right now I'm making the trip alone. Can anyone say Ironman driver?! OH YEEAHHHH!!!
If I can't get the Class C with my trailer it will be my truck and trailer. With the "Spodewash" available my main concern is no longer a concern.

If it is not sold by October I will "borrow" it from Wendy for the week and would have a space for you. But right now i would not plan on that

Thanx, keep me posted Jim. Sorry about the marital deal; just try to think good thoughts tomorrow. :)

Hotel situation:

Holiday Inn is full for the Oct2/3 weekend
Days Inn is between Holiday Inn and Motel 6, cheap ($49) but it's one notch short of a dump IMO;
I just got a reservation at the FAIRFIELD INN ($69)on the other side of Stillwater (north east, Cooperland is southwest of Stillwater)
Didn't check Motel 6... might be "newer" than Days Inn...

We stayed at the Motel 6 last year... and while it is inexpensive (less than $300 for the week), it was pretty small with few amenities. If you want something bigger than a hand towel for drying off after your shower, better bring your own towels!!

Anyone out there have a motel reserved and want help paying for it? There's three of us, and we would just be using the shower every day or two. We plan on sleeping in tents unless there is a total rain-out condition.

pm me if interested!
