I was just looking at davidvuillemin.net and checking out the 2001 pictures and there's one where his girlfriend is helping him load his bike on the trailer. That's cool.
It reminded me of when my wife helped me unload my bike once. It was out of F250, pretty high, and I was using the no ramp trick where you hold the swingarm and roll it out and drop it, right. Well she was holding the bike until I got it about half way out. Well she let go a little early, I wasn't expecting it, and both me and the bike went tumbling to the ground. She got mad at me for even asking her to help and I was the one on the ground. :scream: Anyway it was pretty funny afterall and nobody got hurt, not even the bike. Just remembered that and thought I'd post.

I may have some similar stories once I get everything together, I have a cargo van, and my girlfriend and I are going to be throwing a cr500 and whatever bike she ends up with in there. should be lots of fun!

Mine's helped me a couple of times. Sometimes I think it would be easier...well, less stressful if I did it myself. You would think my bike weighs 500 lbs. the way she grunts and strains. I told her if she would grab it by the swingarm instead of the rear tire I could hold it steady for her alot better.;)

You push your bike in?

I always ride mine into the truck. But once a long time ago my buddy was loading his Kawi into the truck, a brand new Ford 250, and didn't warm the bike up enough. You guessed it, just as the front wheel went into the bed the engine died. There was absolutely no place for his feet to touch and he and the bike fell over . Put a nice dent in his brand new tailgate. Was pretty funny at the time as five or six of us were watching..

I have a friend that USED TO ride his bike into the truck. Watched him ride up the ramp one day and had mud on his tires. When he hit the brakes in the bed of the truck he slid into the back of the cab and the bike stopped and he flipped over the hood. Must have been 20 witnesses and he is constantly reminded of it.

Riding in

Watched a guy do it this summer at a race this summer mainly because his ramp was so steep. He got the front tire on the ramp when he gave it a bit to much throttle launched himself up the ramp - front wheel landed on the roof back wheel shatterred the back window.
Also watched another guy get halfway up the ramp when it snapped front wheel on the tailgate rear on the ground followed shortly by him under everything

The only thing my wife ever lifted was her middle finger. :silly:

Oldguy, I've seen lots of back windows broken by quads, but never a bike. What a putz! :)

I came in a little hot in the back of an old F-350 I used to have, ( yes, a tall one, ) and bent the front bed rail. No harm to the bike or rider, except the riders shorts might have gotten a little moist!:ugg:

Loading or unloading it, nah. Wish I could get her to wash it though :D.

For loading and unloading I take off the tailgate on my 4wd tray and use it as a ramp, riding both up and down. That seems like the easiest/safest way. Anything that in involves trying to push it up a ramp seems unnecessarily difficult and dangerous.

Yeah right, the only way I could get her to even hold it up would be to hang a Nordstom's bag on it! I tried to bring it into the house once after I just bought it but that went over like a lead balloon. I parked it next to the dinner table so I could see it! That reminds me, I did ride my motor onto the top floor of hospital that my friend was staying at once.:)

My wife and I once tried to carry our sofa up two flights of stairs recently during an apartment move. after 5 minutes of her whinning, i got really mad and told her quite impolitely to remove herself from my presence very quickly. i was that mad, i ended up dragging the whole thing up these stairs by myself, it was kind of like a "strength of 10 men" thing!. afterwards she told me she on got me mad deliberately just so i this would happen. and i must say, it was much easier just doing it on my own!

My friends, women are the devil! It all started from that apple and snake incident, and it's been all downhill from there.:) They all have a master plan and can communicate amongst each other silently through their brains! When one woman is mad at you, all of them join in and know exactly what is going on and what you did wrong. Stand tall my brothers, we need to stick together! But I have to add that I couldn't live without my wonderful wife, (had to add this just in case the wifey sees this thread)

It's kinda funny...in about 5 minutes my wife is going to help me unload my bike. I'm going to do the swingarm grabbing, all she has to do is steady it. We'll see how it goes.:D

JP, I bet you miss her . . .

If I felt like riding, my wife would have to load my bike by herself! (At least for the next couple weeks.)

Mostly I just do it myself. Sometimes she'll watch. My biggest hindrance is my little helper, Predator2! ;)

Yes she has, will she tried anyway. But, I don't know what hurt worse. My dislocated arm as I sat in the ambulance, or watching her try to load my bike into the back of a 4x4 ranger being four days away from her due date! At least the ambulance guys locked and loaded me down in the ambulance before they got the bike in the back of the truck. Explaining how to use the tie downs is another story all together! :scream:

I shoulda known better

Just got back from unloading my bike (together). I grabbed the swingarm, she steadied the bars. Everything was fine until the change over from her controlling the bars to me controlling the bars. As soon as she let go, the bars cut and the weight shifted. I got both wheels to the ground, but me and the bike both went to the ground. After I picked the bike up, I heard this noise. It was my wife with both hands covering her face as she laughed her head off. I told her I was going to post about it. She said to make sure that I mentioned that she was the most beautiful wife. So here it goes honey.

I just had the most beautiful wife help me drop my bike out of my truck onto the ground.:debil:

oh got a few good ones like that

i guess i only popped the rear glass out of 1 truck in 28 years! LOL got back from a bad moto and was ver very angry (pissed!). anyway, I wheelied into the back of the truck and locked the brakes as I rolled the bed mat up in a ball and blasted the cab. Lucky i never installed the rubber lock strip for you chevy owners know that its the best way to get in if you lock your keys in the truck.

Course i will never forget the day that my wife told me to "cram it" after years of working on my bikes. She could do the clutches on my maicos, air cleaners, hell she could assemble my Blue 500 1990 maico from a bare frame!
One day i had the old beast pulled down and no time to assemble it. She offered to put it back together and I was Yea cool i can get to race tommorow! Well that day was the day from hell, throttle kept stickin and i was TOTALLy convinced that she routed the cable wrong. I get back to the truck throw my helmet in anger,( dam near hit her when the dam helmet bounced outa the truck) VERY BAD move. Bitchin cause the cable is binding and cost me a win.................so i been paying for that one for like what 10 years? She no longer EVER works on the bike......and to make it worse..............it wasn't the cable at all it was the throttle housing that I didn't clean and was spose to!... so that topic is a loser for me in this household!!!

So I guess I have to train the 6 year old to do air cleaners? Naaaa thats why they make filter skins!@!!

Tried to get her to help me set the sag, once, it's either at 70mm or 130mm, not sure, hard to check on your own and the numbers I was gettin just didnt make any sense. Gotta say you guys have filled me with confidence about riding my bike into the back of my 4x4, had it a couple of months, bought this trick folding aluminium ramp, havent put the bike on it yet, and now I think I may be too scared to do it, best I get the good lady to help.:)
" Babe, get all the cushions from the house and put'em around me truck, keep one handy to throw under the bike just before it hits the ground."

My job (if I've got time & not making the thermos's) is to help push my bike onto the trailer, then hand over the tie-downs and maybe even tighten them a little.

I've tried loading my bike on my own, but found I need a step to get me onto the trailer, or longer legs or arms. If my husband ever injures himself, I'll have to find a second ramp so I can walk up that. The guys parked a ways away the other week, must have wondered what the hell I was doing, pushing the bike up the ramp, then rolling it back down (just managing to hold it without dropping it). The one bike I can (and have) loaded is the trials bike, the bars aren't as high.

As for the couch story, we'd just bought a new stove, was carrying it inside when I yelled I was about to drop it (of course, dropping it at the same time). oops, boy did I get told off about that one. I felt stink about it, but hey, **** happens ;)

That's pretty funny Cal, that's about exactly what happened to me except my wife didn't laugh she got mad at me for ever involving her in the first place. I'm sure she laughed her butt off once she got out of sight though.

My wife is great! She unselfishly supervises me everytime I unload a bike! Hey Cal, are you the guy with the trashed DRZ transmissions. Is the unloading of the truck mean that you got it back? I hope so and I hope it works out great. My buddy with the DRZ has not seen his problems get worse so it looks like he won't have a catastrophic failure. HIs is very difficult to go from 2nd to 3rd and he now has over 2000miles on it.

Everytime I hurt myself bad enough, she loads my bike. The rest of the time, she loads her bike and the kids' bikes. I can't complain. She washes, dries and lubes the chains. She even bought me the shirt that says "if you can find a girl to wash your bike, marry her."
