Flat head piston Vs Convex head piston

I have observed in several racing bikes the choice of flat head pistons and others using convex head pistons. Other than strenght considerations, are there any other advantages????? :bang:

has to do with fuel scavenging in the engine, fresh charge going up and over, instead of straight across. Thats all i can say I'll let others take it from here....
