What you need to go find at the dealer is a book called "technical seminar update book" for the 04 and 05 model year. That is a yamaha specific book and it will tell you specifically the yearly changes to EVERYTHING. If the shock or linkage is different, than no.

Now the forks you can swap over with the triple clamps without issue. Did that do a 03 yz450f.

Probably your best bet is to leave the shocks where they are, revalve the rear, and swap over the forks. be sure you get the correct spring rate in the forks. see what the 05 yz250 is using for spring rate. Also the 05 forks like an extra 5-7mm spacer for the spring. They come with negative preload on them. The spacer will take out the slack and keep the forks higher in the stroke for a better ride.
