Just to get started, why do they insist on calling it Down Hill Skiing?

Do they expect us believe they would actually race Up Hill Skiing?

And what about the Biathalon? Why do they call them Bi-athletes? Seems judgemental to me.

Slightly off topic here, but have you ever heard of the "Ezakimak" mountain bike race? That's "Kamikaze" backwards. You guessed it, a few sickos actually race UP the Kamikaze downhill course!

What really gets me is Americans calling it "Ice Hahkey" instead of "Hockey". Would you really get it confused with field hockey during the Winter Olympics?

I'm really hoping you're kidding about the biathalon.. ever hear of a TRIathalon? Three events? ;)

They acutally play hockey in a skating ring with inline skates. Its call roller hockey as opposed to hockey played on ice which would be ice hockey. I quess the Ice or roller was added to denote which type you were playing. Until recently there was no place to even ice skate in my area let alone play hockey. I guess its not as popular in the south (lack of snow might have something to do with that). I personaly have just always call it hockey. The whole rollor hockey thing is pretty new and up until a few years ago I assumed it aways played on ice and that Hockey referred to the kind that was played on ice. Realy no need to call it Ice Hockey.

It depends on where you live in the world, where I grew up Ice hockey was a minor little played/known sport wheras hockey (field) was very big. This is the same for many of the countries where only field hockey is played. In India and Pakistan Hockey (field) is second only in popularity to cricket ! :eek:
