I'm geared 14/51 on my CR250. It's good for 70mph or so on the top end. What is your current gearing? Count the teeth on the sprockets.

it just seems weird to think that one tooth will make that much of a diff. will i go fast if i do a 15/51 gear combo? or can you even do that? see gearing is not my strong point i just know that the speed i have now is not enough i want to go blazin fast that is why i got a 250 cuz i heard they do like 75 80 is that even true??

one tooth in the front is equal to three or four in the back. front sprockets are cheap so you could get 1 tooth bigger and 2 teeth bigger.

Based on the manual for that bike... It should have a primary reduction of 3.0, trans reduction of 0.952 and final reduction of 3.571 (50/14)

At 10500rpms, you should see about 79.6 mph.

If you have the factory gearing in the trans and are running in 5th gear wide open, you should get 79 or so out of it...

Sounds like something is wrong with your bike. 45 is way too slow, and 14-50 is stock gearing.

One of the biggest complains about the YZ250 is that it needs a 6th gear for more speed! But still, most people report stock top speed to be in the 60-70 mph range. Out here there are a handful of guys that run 15-50 gearing, I'll be one when my current setup is shot.
