I feel very reluctant to have this surgery but I know it has to happen.  I've had a sinus infection since February.  Can't get ride of it.  It has gotten much worse and I'm having pain from the pressure.  Both sides are affected and medication has little to no effect.  I really don't feel good about this one.
23 years ago I had the same surgery, emergency though.  No time to consider any of the concequences other than death.  Four months of physical healing and many years of mental and emothional healing.  Hard thing to live with when your 18, 10 foot tall and bullet proof.  I guess I see mortality staring me in the face and don't have much confidence in the out come.  Same surgeon as 23 years ago, top of his field so it is not that.  I just can't quite explain it to anyone.
I'll see if my wife can get a report to justql, OKKX'r, or craig_enid by phone tomorrow afternoon.  I've had other surgeries and have never felt this way about any of them.  I guess I'm not 10 feet tall and bullet proof anymore.  Wish me luck.

Your friend, Brian

My father had sinus surgery a couple of months ago. He has had trouble for years and had surgery ten years ago. It flared up again recently and went to another specialist. They operated within that week. It turns out the previous surgery had resulted from the sinuses slowly closing up and becoming hard. They didn't have much they could do but managed to clean some of it out and reconstruct the chambers somewhat. Luckily he is doing great and hasn't had any pain since.

And the good thing is this doctor also said he could reverse my Dad's hearing loss in one ear that he has had for almost 20 years!!!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery... :thumb:

Thanks everyone.  Your will wishes and prayers did wonders for my attitude.  I'll have a misarible week or ttwo but no real diet restrictions and as soon as the bleeding stops, no restictions.  I want a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream so bad I can barely stand it.

Brian, I don't know the brand, but the flavor is 'Peanut Butter Panic'. It'll put you into a diabetic coma, if you're not carefull!

Brian, glad to hear your out of surgery and on the mend. I have had 5 surgeries and no bad results yet. I have always felt comfortable with and trusted my doctors but am starting to feel like I need to quit going under the knife. I think it's the anesthetics that bother me, not real fond of being unconscious. At least you picked a good time to do it as it has been so stinkin hot recently. You'll be back on the bike before you know it.

Went back to the surgeon today :( and he is going to do some more work on me Monday, September 15.  He says,"you're healing too fast".  He gave me this mile long set of latin, greek, and gibberish type terms to discribe what was going to be done but it must be fairly serious to bump others off of his surgery list and put me ahead of them.
I've been miserale the last week.  Was really hoping to recover enough for DW03 but I think that part is out.  Don't get me wrong, if I am NOT dead or in the hospital, I will be there, just not riding. :(
Everyone have fun this weekend and I'll try to organize some help for the rebuilding of the Spodewash.  Shouldn't take much but more than I will be capable of in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear it :( I sure you'll pull through fine on Monday. I never though that healing to fast could be a problem. Hang in there.
