Grease axle?

My service manual specifies that I grease the wheel bearings and seals but doesn't say that I should grease the axle or the inside of the bearings, sleeve or collars.

Should I apply a light coating of grease to these parts when I assemble or will it just get gunked up with dirt if I do?

I would coat the axle with a light coating of grease or anti sieze compound...particularily the rear axle.
This just makes it easier to remove. The same goes for the swing arm bolt.
I would avoid getting grease on the seals.

Okay, thanks for straightening me out on this. I wonder why the manual doesn't say that I should grease the axle?

I've already re-assembled the swingarm. I put new bearings in. I'll pull that bolt out and grease it, too.

Are there any other axle/bolts that should be greased?

It’s a good idea to put some grease on motor mounting bolts. They tend to corrode where they pass through the motor.

Grease all linkage and motor bolts too. They will get caked in or as RMguy stated, they rust, ALOT!

a little anti seize is a good thing ! especially for the nexted owner! frozen swing arm bolts are no fun at all, been there!
