As I have stated in previous posts that I purchased what I thought was a 1993 Suzuki RM125 and a ****load of gear from a friend for $500. (He thought it needed a cdi but it was a loose wire.) There's one problem. This bike looks different than pictures of 1993 RM125's that I have seen. ALL of them. Anyway, the bike has no stickers on it at all but it has RM on the seat and a ghost of where an RM sticker was on the rad covers. Also there is what looks like a VIN number stamped on the upper part of the fork. Maybe I could get the year model from that number?

Any help is appreciated...

It's a 1990. "L" is 1990, M is 91 and so on, or so back! And yes, that is the Vin#.

It applies to all US intended vehicles/motorcycles, import and domestic after 1981. It does not work for "gray" market or imported vehicles that were originally intended for overseas market. Here's a list for anyone that needs it. The model year is 1st and the corresponding 10th digit is listed 2nd.

1981-"B"
82-C
83-D
84-E
85-F
86-G
87-H
88-J
89-K
90-L
91-M
92-N
93-P
94-R
95-S
96-T
97-V
98-W
99-X
00-Y
01-1
02-2
03-3
04-4.....

If you really need a Vin "broken down", let me know and I can help. I've got all the books.
