Greg Albertyn is coming back
Yesterday's Dunlop Day at Glen Helen offered a few industry insiders a chance to get a look at some top riders who have been sidelined for some time, including Kevin Windham, Nathan Ramsey, and Kyle Lewis. But the real surprise was seeing former Team Suzuki factory rider Greg Albertyn out on the track, because Alby says he's coming back for the Glen Helen National on May 11.
"I'll be racing the Glen Helen National, for sure," said the 1999 AMA 250cc National Motocross Champion and three-time World MX Champion. "I'm using it as a goal to get in shape and put time in on the bike."
No, this is not an April 16th Fool's joke. And he gets an automatic spot in the 250cc National program as a past champion. Now whether or not he still gets to wear #7 - his permanent number choice before he retired - remains to be seen.
