Pastrana will start racing at Glen Helen

Team SoBe Suzuki's Travis Pastrana is feeling great and, by all accounts, looking fast and strong on the comeback trail, but he's not going to be racing until May 11 after all. Pastrana decided to pass up the last two rounds of supercross in order to get himself better prepared for the 2003 AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. National Motocross Championships, which will kick off at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California. Pastrana, who has been on the sidelines mending but still training since the Phoenix SX, will be competing in the 250 class aboard a Lee McCollum-tuned RM250. Travis himself had mentioned before on ESPN2 that he hoped to return to SLC this weekend, but he and team manager Roger DeCoster have decided together that he should focus instead on outdoor motocross.

Hopefully this is the beginning of some good decision making on Travis' part. I think it's smart for him to take a little additional time off and be positive that he's in great shape for the outdoor series. As usual, he'll be fun to watch!

I agree skipping the last SX rounds was smart. It will be interesting to see if Travis competes in the X games in LA on August 15/16. There are still 3 rounds of the nationals after the X games, including Millville on August 17.
