I have been reading many posts and putting my .02 in. And Was just wondering if anyone ever wonders how people come up with their user name.
Mine is "Midhigh" I am a Mid-High youth Pastor (that's the same as Jr. High for us old schoolers). So midhigh seemed to be the right name(not mention I'm short). We have a group of Students that ride. We are trying to come up with a cool name, but nothing yet.
I'd be interested to hear your story!
I joined twice; first under "Lastplace" when getting back into riding/enduros after being out of the sport. The name was intended to encourage better finishes than, well, it says it all. Then my lovely wife found out I was organizing DRN rides, and to bring peace I pitched it all; about the same time LongTime got some heat over a political discussion here; not wanting others to confuse us two, it was time for a change.
Lacking creativity when rejoining later I simply switched sylables to promote for some measure of continuity. Like: remember me? I'm back (so what?)
Having been nominated for an icon way back, but wanting to wait for the SoCa Wrecking crew to come up with a name to go along with the icon...I'm still waiting...
About the time Thanksgiving rolls around, I eat, breathe, & live on my sled (Snowmobile) every chance I get, which is up to 2000 miles of OFF trail, high quality, Idaho mountain boondockin', until sometime in May. Ya, baby, ya!
I was rushed - OK - so i didn't think that i could never change my name once people got to know me by my DRN name. At the time i had no intentions to ever own another bike other than a KDX ... uh... and my dog forced me in to it.
Kelvin = dogs name
KDX = current bike
... and don't call me Kevin (that's someone else)!
What am i going to do once the dog runs off with some sexy mutt and i am stuck here with the KDX all by myself?
I'd have to get another dog named Kelvin - and those are a pretty rare find. ;)
I got my nickname while I was working in a garage ("The Garage" actually). Everyone else there had a nickname, and my Boss decided I needed one too. My last name, Latvala, for some strange reason is hard for many people (make that most people) to get right; anyway, my boss decided that I needed to be called something else, and in short order my name became Lutz.
I never did quite decide if Lutz is a combination of Latvala and klutz....
I don't ride a Kdx but I like this subject. I got my name because some 9 1/2 ass clown already had Blue Thunder and since I will always be the loudest bike in the pack unless I am riding with Harleys, I need to be Thunder. And my number is 33. I am not 33. Someday I will be and that year will be cool I guess. I am glad I am not Blue Thunder though since, other than one lone bolt, my bike is not blue anymore. I might change number someday but I am probably too lazy for all of that.
Boy, how many threads like this have there been before :confused:
My name is not Stan, and my last name is not Flemmings. My name is Brian. Stan Flemmings was just a random name I picked. There's lots more to the story, but.........
Mine is my first initial S and my last name Platt........splatt. A few people thought it had something to do with my riding style but I`ve had it long before I started riding.
LOL! Is it just me or should this thread be moved to the "General Discussions" area? There is alot of history here, just a thought, and I think it ought to be shared. There are some imaginative screen names out there I would like to see the reasons behind them.
I thought it up when I was setting around healing from a crash. DWreck sounds a little like my real name Derek. I almost went with Hop-along Catastrophe. Thats a nick name a friend gave me after my first knee surgery.
Just one of my many nicknames. Real name is Steve, when I was young dad always called me stevoh. Ya get it Huh, Huh.
I am also a subscribing member under another name on my computer at work (srhill), no immagination there.
I picked mine because it is a nickname I got from the other workers when I did construction in high school. Also it beat the other nickname I got while working at college, HiLow, dont ask. Anyways, it is just the first part of my last name, and thats what they called me.
You folk born well before Reagan was President may remember an eccentric, hair-challenged antisocial homely inventer and spode Disney character named Gyro. Since the resemblance was uncanny ;) thats what it is.
i just used G. to make you think, and also because it sounded like Gee, Gear Loose which is often uttered when working on my stuff.
