Be Honest!!! What's the furthest you jump? I don't have a track around here but have slowly been learning to go farther and farther at the sand dunes. Last night on a big roller I was launching it pretty good in fifth gear and we paced off our distance (easy to see the tracks in sand). My best was about 80 feet. I have seen people out there going more than twice that far. How far do you guys jump? What's your best distance?

I try to spend as much time as possible in contact with the ground (but not laying on it) as it seems to be faster than hanging out it the air. Besides didn't you hear? Seth's dead.

Pat, is that true about Seth or are you just messin'?
On a track, my jump distances are minimal. I see 5th gear every lap at my regular track, but still won't do the double! I like to keep it low and fast (relatively speaking, of course!). Keep in mind, that the older I get, the less I want to fly. There are a couple jumps that I just love sailing, though. The "ski jump" at our regular track has a killer drop-away. One that makes you go "Woohoo!" involuntarilly!:)

I jump my XR250R all the time! Every time I go ride at Highlands I can’t wait to jump. There is a 100ft tabletop there... One time when I was feeling a little over confident I hit it pinned in 5th. The take off was smooth and being in the air was great, it was the landing that hurt. I bottomed both ends and nearly got knocked off the bike. I went about 65-70ft. Needless to say, I haven’t jumped that far again. I now only go about 35-40ft on the 100ft tabletop. There are a few other jumps I do at Highlands also. Right after the 100ft’er there is a 50ft tabletop that I am getting close to clearing. I am coming up about 10ft short.

I guess you could say I am a jumping junkie. Maybe I should see about getting a MX bike if I intend (I fully do) to keep jumping.

P.S. I am just amazed that my forks havent broken yet, I doubt they were made to take what I throw at them:scream:

85 foot supercross style ridge to ridge double about 25 feet in the air!
and overshot a 80 foot tabletop by 20 feet and landed flat from about 20 feet in the air. That one REALLY hurt.

Okay first off, before any rumors getting brewing.....SETH IS NOT DEAD!

As far as the subject goes, I don't know how far, but I do know that it always feels a hell of a lot further than it actually is!:think

I know what you're thinking:

That's Tim Ferry and Grant Langston, right? Wrong. Thunder 33 (Top) and Big Lou. Same jump, different results.:o

Ha ha, the Seth's dead thing again? I thought once was enough.

There's a 60ft table that I constantly over shoot, so my guess is around 70-75 feet. I'd like to find a big jump, say around 100ft, but nothing even close to that around here. The desert would be great.....

I usually don't have the tape measure in my back pocket when riding/racing...

But - I know Joliet's (MX/SX track around here) finish line table-top triple is said to be 70 feet. I went to a class there last year and the instructor (Junior Jackson) got me to jump it. I did it about 5-10 times. Red was impressed

At the time it had a little double-double in front of it... I would go around the big right hander in 3rd, do the double-double (overshooting the 2nd double), and hold it pinned until I left the face of the finish line. Big adrenaline rush!!

I don't mind the distance thing, it's the height I don't like. We jump about 70-80 ft tables and 60 or so feet doubles at the track and 100ft dunes at the desert. The desert jumps are usually 4th and 5th gear jumps, not alot of height but alot of distance. I tend to stay away from the lip launchers that shoot you 20+ feet in the air, sorry, I have a job and a house!

I have a photo of Thumbs doing his 50 footers!

If someone explains how I can input a photo, I have a great Ocotillo jump to share with the class

Is the photo online? If so, right click on it and go to Properties. Copy the URL listed in properties and type the following.

["IMG]paste URL here[/IMG"]

Don't use the quotes, it was the only way to make the test line show up. Make sure there's no spaces or anything in there. I want to see this Ocotillo jump. Maybe I've done it too!!

about 120 feet at the dunes. a buddy jumped 140 but landed almost on the flat, crashed and broke his hip. the dunes here are generally big rolling tabletops. you can jump a long way without getting more than 6-8 feet high.
90 feet is my best on a track; the "hell fire jump" at prairie grove, arkansas. it was a big table top. i could do it the first couple of laps in a moto, after that i was too tired.

In all honesty, I don't like big jumps. Actually, I don't like the height more than distance! Small jumps are fine though. Anyway, this guy nearby has an MX track on his property with a big single jump on it. I"ve paced it off before, and I jump around 35'. Don' t get very high, though, probably only 6 or 7 feet.

Jumps! My favorite subject!!
Longest would be in the dunes 140' Back of Comp Hill in Florence

Longest on a track - 90-100' a couple of years ago at Mt. View they had some big jumps. Not many tracks around here have much distance. I have a 70' "triple" at my track at home that I would like to extend.

Gnarliest jump would have been Jumping the canal at Glamis. It is only about 80-95' to clear it clean but there is no prejumping to gauge the takeoff and God help you if something goes wrong on the run to it. (concrete on the face of the landing.) Yes I have pics but they are the old fashioned kind.

Hey BigLou, what track is that? It sorta looks like a track I sometimes ride on.

The longest jump I've done is around 90 ft on a track. I don't plan on doing anything much longer any time soon.

lost in the deserts of NM
I hit a 3' tall jump (involuntarily) last weekend about 50 mph.
Considering mine and the bikes combined weight i'd say i must've been airborn for about 2 or 3 feet.......:scream:

I have jumps about 10-15 feet in distance, probably somewhere around the 3 or 4 foot range in height on my XR100R. Needless to say, the landings are kind of ugly.
