How many Ladies Snowmobile?

Colorado finally got some snow this past weekend so now it is time to put up the motorcycles and get out other toys. How many of you ride snowmobiles and what kind? I ride a Polaris 700 Long Track. Snowmobiling is fun and good exercise but I can't get that 500 pound thing unstuck if I get stuck. We need to come up with a term like "monkey butt" for when you snowmobile too long then there is all this moisture down there that then freezes. I HATE that.:p If any of you ladies want to come out to Colorado to snowmobile or ski (I live only 20 minutes from Vail) you are welcome to stay with me.

We got a couple inches Sunday at our place. Got 2 of my 4 sleds fired up and ready for a little more snow. Put Karl's engine and suspension back into his (the avalanche 2 years ago did a bit of damage to the sled and most of it became apparent early this spring- his bod recovered for the most part. Then the engine blew up on our last ride out). :(

I ride a 94Jag440, Karl rides a Phazer (485 I think) and the kids fight over the little Polaris 250, Scorpion 340 and Polaris TX440 death machine (fast with NO suspension what would you expect for a 72 model).

We go for the light and lean sleds. Karl's Phazer has all unnecessary parts removed because of the goofy places he likes to ride. We tend to ride the sleds on similar trails to where we ride the bikes.:think

I grew up riding sleds with my parents. It took quite awhile before my mom figured out that the reason I always fell asleep at age 5 while riding in front of her on her sled was the fumes! In fact the Scorpion that I have now was my first new sled back in 1978.

My parents still ride. Dad & my bro are into the BIG sleds. They are fun but they don't follow us on most of the trails we like. Those things take an army to get them unstuck.

I can usually get my own sled out of a bad situation, at most it will take Karl and I to pull it out.

The first few rides out I have a tough time getting used to the rear brakes. No matter how hard I push my right foot down on the tray, it just doesn't seem to slow me down!

Ah, another expensive hobby. Which I don't happen to indulge in! Back in IL, we hardly got enough snow over the winter to justify buying a sled. Out here in NY, it's a little better but we just haven't gotten that itch yet.

We may have to take you up on the Vail skiing offer, though. ;)

I recently picked up wakeboarding now that the season has ended and it rains a couple of days a week.
Its great fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't begin to describe how fun it is....im stoked!
I'm already thinking of getting serious...ofcourse it will always be second to motocross. :D

I've snomobiled before and all I can say is it's a blast. If I lived in Colorado I would definately have a sled.

Hey Nicole, good write-up in our latest RMEC checkpoint!

I'm headed up to West Yellowstone for a week and a half around Christmas, got hooked last year, now I own a Summit 800 and live in AZ. We got 6" in the AZ mtns last day or so.... Any folks out there headed to Yellowstone over Christmas?

Nicole, I ride as a 40+ A rider, saw with you and the hubby at Boot Hill (he passed me, dang), then rode the C loop at Dry Creek with a sore back, saw you out there on the C loop looking a little pooped. Looks like you DNF'd at Dry Creek, what happened. Heard the A/B loop was tough....

Oh ya, back to the original subject, gonna join some folks down near Crested Butte in Feb or March, you and your husband interested in sledding? Got a buddy that has a nice house up at 11,000' above Taylor Res that will be hosting, he's buddies with Malcolm and might be able to get him out there too.

Are you the one who wears the really old Scott boots? Dry Creek . . . let's just say that after I got back from the ISDE I had ridden so much before and during that I did not want to ride, run or work out. Then for some stupid reason I figured I would ride Dry Creek. I was flat out of shape. Why? Good Question. Last year I broke my toe and the year before I got the biggest charlie horse trying to pass someone who really didn't want to let a girl pass and the year before that there was a big bottle neck on a hill and I was so hot I almost passed out from Dehydration. Next year I won't be there unless I sign up to work. Plus I plan to ride trials.

Yea we would be interest in Jan or Feb. Let me know.

You have to have toys for all seasons!!!!!!!!

I do not need a calendar around our house to know what month it is. In early November the dirt bikes settle down for there long winter nap and suddenly the snowmobiles appear where the bikes use to sit.

Although this year I think the bikes went away a little to early since its the 4th of December and 65 degrees here in Illinois. Its left us out in the yard doing snow dances...O well it looks like we will just have to head north:)

Be careful with the snow dances. A local DJ here did a snow dance and it has snowed since. I have about 32" at my house and it keeps coming down. Wouldn't be so bad except the ground hasn't even frozen yet, my snowplow needs the cylinder repaired and my dozer is having problems of it's own (it also is no fun to plow with).

If they'd stop plowing all the public roads I could snowmobile to work but, they keep plowing and plowing!:( I think I'll have to claim I'm snowed in one of these days - go sledding instead of to work!:)

We just picked up new skis, and it's been in the 50's and 60's for the past two weeks. :think
Not even cold enough for the resorts to make snow. Grrr.

I havnt been here in while - I come back and your talking sleds! Cool!! Especially since I sold the YZ125 in Oct. for an 02 RMK 600! I'll have a bike someday again but for the mean time I'm enjoying all this very deep powder on my new toy. :) Been riding every weekend! I know what you mean by getting stuck! Its such a pain and a workout in it self. These things are more than twice the weight of a dirtbike but at least you dont have to pick them up to get on them! I've noticed my MX experiance has really helped my snowmo riding. Standing up, leaning forward (alot easier to go over the bars though), elbows up and out, keeping it pinned! Of coarse it's a heck of alot more expensive! Had to buy avalanch beacons, probes, shovels, and lets not even talk about all the mods that you want to do these things that cost a fortune!:eek: Ohh well, its a blast! It kind of reminds me of railing around and up and down the dunes, just on a much bigger scale.
