How can you mod a dr-z 250 with out spending a lot of cash? The bike just doesn't have quite enough power. Also how can you lighten it up? It is also very heavy. I'd aprecitate any tips.
The harsh reality is that the aftermarket did not come very far for the DRZ250, especially given the aftermarket for the DRZ400. This was also the problem frankly for the TTR250 (which enjoys a vast aftermarket in comparison to the DRZ250). For some reason the ability to expand the capability of this bike fell flat on its face.
My first suggestion is to get creative and find cross over parts that will work. I am sure there is a +2mm (0.080) piston out there that will work. After the uncorking, exhaust and jetting, CC's are the next step. I am sure there is also a cam that cam be used in a cross over situation.

Tthe may be able to help with cheap mods like opening up the airbox, rejetting and modifing the stock silencer for more noise and a little more power. Losing weight will be an uphill battle though.
