:flame: I can’t believe it. I’ve only advertised my bike for sale less than one day and I get people trying to scam me. Less than one day! Here is the email I got

Hello,
I am a business man, specialised in bike purchase, and i also
help my client in purshasing there bike to any place of there desired
destination, also i have a shipper who takes care of the shippment,
so shipping will not pose any problem. Presently i have a client who
has asked me to help him purchase an bike which will be shipped.
So as i was browsing through the internet i saw your advert and i
will like to purchase it for my client, but before payment will be
made i need to be sure of who i will be dealing with if you are going
to be honest and sincere throughout the transaction.
So to start with signifier your interest by forwarding to me your
offer as well as your telephone number through the email, after which
we can continue with the transaction and i promise if all conditions
and agreement are accepted and reached on time, payment will be made
out almost immediately.
and also will be paying by check so i want you to provide the
adresswhere the check will be send to and the name you want the check
to bear including your home ,and cell phone number and i will also
want to know the present condition of the bike and the pics so if you
are ok by this mode of payment let me have the last price of it cos
i have a client in the state so i will called him to send you the
payment then the exess fund will be send to my shipper i will give
oyu his email adress if you get back to me
thanks hope to hear from you

The email address they sent it from is [email protected].
A “business man” Oh Pleease!!! And you’re a used dirtbike broker? Come on. I sent him back an email telling him how sorry I felt for him and how he would eventually get caught by someone. It is just so sad these days.

Well hey, I got one of those and I dont even have my bike listed ANYWHERE for sale! They even inserted the year and make of my bike into the email. They must lurk around message boards.

I replied to a similar email when I was selling my camper by telling him
"I am very happy to sell my camper to you. Please send all emails with your fullname, address, birthdate, and place of employment to me care of my employer- Wisconsin Attorney General Office.
I am anxiously waiting for you reply"
He must have lost my address because he never replied  so I had to sell my camper elsewhere

That's good, oldguy. But I reply with this message:

"I'll gladly sell you my motorcycle. Meet me at my place, 'round midnight. Bring cash and condoms."

Speaking of condoms - did you know that Accountants are the only known species who use their personalities as a form of contraception?

I have gotten some like this--mostly the "I am trying to locate my client's family" ones--and they are all from foreigners. The grammar and spelling are weird because they're not from normal English speakers. I just hope that most people are smart enough to steer clear.

Here is the response from the guy from "England". Please notice his proper English. Some how mysteriously sounds a little different than the original writer. Hmmmm.

WE DON'T HAVE TOO MUCH OF YAMAHA YZ 125 IN UK THAT IS WHY I HAVE HAVE TO
GO THAT LONG.
IF YOU CANGE YOUR MIND PLS MAIL ME BACK.
HAVE A NICE DAY.
JASON..........

I guess Yamaha just miscalculated all the YZ sales they could have had in Merry olde England. ;)

I Know, I know.

Anyway, here is day Three. BTW, I am NOT FALLING for this scam, I am just using this to illustrate to those who don't know how it goes.

This is what he says

Hello Mike,
Thanks for your reply,i am located in England,i am okay with the price this is how i will want us to seal the transaction cos i dont want any delay at all.So, all i am going to do
is to contact my associate in the USA to issue you a certified
cashiers check of $4,500 which will be for both the shipping and your
own money $1,950.So all i will want you to do when you recieve the check, is to deduct your own money and send the remaining shipping funds $2,550 through
WESTERN UNION to my international shipping agent that will come
for the pick up and also dedut $200 for the WESTERN UNION charges which make the total of funds you will be sending to my shipper $2,350 .So if this terms are okay by you i will need your contact address and phone number so that i can forward to my associate who will be
issueing you the check.
I look forward to your reply.
Thanks and Regards,
BRAIN WRIGHT

I replied:

LOL - Last week I had an inquiry from the UK about a Corvette I have for sale. I sent a detailed report on the car's condition, and asked for a phone number so that we could discuss the deal. That was three or four days ago, and no reply.

It's a shame. I was ready to have a little fun.

Just call me the Magnet man. For scams that is. Day five? Here is another Oh so polite gentleman, he's from "Belgium". I never knew my bike had so much international appeal! I am so flattered :)

HI,
Complements of the new year season.Hope you had a splendid
celebration.I am Mr Debby Morrison by name,a bike/car dealer
based in Antwerp, Belgium.I recently saw your advert as regards the
bike you want to sale.
The high demand of your type of bike both for the local and
international market has made it imperative that we should go into
this transaction with a view to fostering a harmonious business
relationship, that will stand the taste of time.
In the past,I have concentrated my business in the European
market, but recently came to understand that one could get cheaper
and better bikes from the US market.Based on this,i will like us to
treat this transaction with the seriousness it deserves.
You said you are selling for $1,950, but i dont know what an offer
$1,900 looks like to you.
Hope the bike is in perfect mechanical and cosmetic condition.i will
like to have an indepth description of the present condition of the
bike.
Get back to me asap.
Regards
Debby Morrison.
