I may be crazy, but I'm thinking of buying a 1986 KDX 200. I currently have a 02 200 but I got this crazy idea of buying an older KDX for a project and now I found one locally. Well, let me be honest, I need therapy and the best cure for this guy is restoring bikes. When the kids get crazy and my wife is pushing my buttons, I find no better cure then a trip to the garage and restoring a neat old bike. Anyway, back on track about this 86 KDX. Is the 86 a decent bike and will I be able to find the typical parts, such as a piston, swingarm bushings and plastics?

I got an '87.. you can get a bunch of stock parts from KAWI still, just cost a lot of money. Aftermarket is hard to find for these bikes, and I think you can get most of the stuff needed for a top end. I'm looking around for this. Fredette has a lot of stuff.
BTW... where in NY Are you located
