is the yamaha WR250F a good beginner bike?

I've been riding street bikes for 3 years, never dirt. I'm 5'8 177lbs

there's a local guy sellin a 01 wr250f for 2k... sound like a good deal/good bike? looks like he's done quite a bit of customizing

Street Tires, and Dirt Tires!
2 Sets of sprockets,
(set on the bike will get you a top speed of 80mph,
the other speed will top you out at 95~100mph)
Its fully street legal with street legal title
Turn signals, headlight, Horn,
TrailTech Vapor Spedometer with Tach,outside temp & engine temp,time,odometer,etc
Has had all the performance mods (gray wire, airbox, carb, emissions, breather tube, etc)
Custom case breather mod for vertical inclines
Runs perfect.

As long as the bike is in really good mechanical shape it would be a good bike for you. The engine is based on the YZF race engine and is prone to alot of the high-wear issues of those engines. The bike is 8 years old now and could be on the brink of disaster. It's kind of a gamble buying a used 250f.
