What's up guys and girls...

I just bought this 97 cr250 about 2 weeks ago... It's my first bike, got any tips?

It needs a new seat cover... How would an all black one look?

Set up a maintenance schedule based on engine hours. remove your swing arm and linkage and lube everything, Buy red plastic and shed the decal.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the opinions...

I had a good friend of mine take apart the bike and give it a good tune up, he said everything is really good on the bike, no problems what so ever.... I purchased this bike from the original owner, who was like 40 years old and only rode trails....

As for the black plastic... It's stayin that way... Not much of a red fan... Maybe switch it out to white one day...

And yes, I bought a 250 two-stroke as my first bike, is that a bad thing or something? I'm 6'0 and 245 pounds... Needed something with some power...

Leave the bike as is, clean your filter, change the gearbox oil and get plenty of seat time. Nice bike, have fun

It's not a bad idea... they are just saying that because they have never ridden one. They are not THAT fast. Just don't get ahead of yourself on it. You'll learn fast that it pulls wheelies pretty easily, therefore you will probably tend to stay off the gas at first. Unless your like me. :p

leave all the cosmetics alone till after you've learned how to ride. reason being you'll drop it a lot. looks like a great bike. i wouldnt worry about starting on a 250 2-stroke. my first bike was a 250 2-stroke. the way i saw it was going to be easier to ride than a 125 and i wasnt about to buy a 4-stroke. i can honestly say i had no regrets. if your a big guy when you learn to ride, your options are pretty limited to full size bikes.

In 1984 my first bike was a yz250. At 140 lbs. it was a hand full. It put me on my butt more times than I could count. I sold it bought a xr500 learned how to ride, what a wheelie machine. Today I am 50 lbs. heavier and back on a yz250 and crave the power.

Had the same bike, and after I had the suspension setup the bike was awesome.

Cornering is not the greatest. Awesome engine power.

Nice bike, keep the plastic for a little while. I had hand guards and a IMS tank.

Check the break pads to, really easy.
