Hi,
Just bought my kids a 1982 Kawasaki KD80. It idles beautifully and still has lots of power but it smokes quite a bit when riding. The previous owner premixed the fuel at 50 to 1. Also the crankcase oil was quite low when I got it. Thanks for any help you can give.

You should not be premixing that bike. It should be an oil injected engine. I had one twenty years ago.

I haven't put any fuel in yet. Whats in there is what the previous owner put in. He would mix 50:1 rather than relying on the oil pump. Thanks though.

50:1 is a lil lean- if its low on crank oil more often it is the seal gone bad ,and oil from the crank seeping in the crank area, burning in the chamber as well as the premix oil-
when this happens youll be fouling plugs left and right

Not sure about your particular bike, but some bikes require mods to run premix instead of the injector pump.

The old Yamahas we had to drill a "drip hole" in the case to lube the crank bearing.
