The last few years we took the beginning and ending spots at fish creek. and it worked out well. Basically the campground is a big circle loop, so the first spots are next to the last spots in the loop. I think last year we had almost half the enitire campgraound with DRN'ers' :thumb:
we'll have some DRn banners and posters out. I believe Rex has the big banner we made.
I'm new to the post and the only member I've met is Bclapham up at the Cahuilla Creek Track, friendly chap.
I'd like to get into some good trails and meet some other riders. I've heard it's nice up there, like up north or back east.
If I can make it is camping just open like at Ocotillo Wells or like Big Bear where you have to get a yellowpost site. I van camp if that's OK. As for bikes, my 4-stroke is a Husky 570 with stock pipe so it's about 82-85 db's, but I also have access to a KLX300, but the pipe on that one is approx. 102db's. Which bike would be best up there.
How is it for the kids and the wife? My oldest rides a XR100, but he just likes to ride around camp and my wife doesn't enjoy bike camping unless other families are around.
dingoe-It's like big bear with camping spots that have the posts with site #s. The overflow area that is across the street from the main campgrounds is an open area that you just camp wherever you stop.
You should make it it will be a fun time. There is a creek just down from the campgrounds that makes a fun little hike that my wife and daughter enjoyed. My son (13) had his yz80 up there last year and enjoyed taking the trail that connects the fish creak campground and troy meadow campground. It's only about 1.5 miles (beginers trail). He and I also road jackass trail about 2 miles to where it intersected the fire road then we'd turn around and head back to camp. This year I'll probablly take him further down that trail as he has a little more experience now and has a newer bike (kx100) but he is still pretty slow so usually when we go out it just me and him.
It's a real scenic area to ride in you won't be disapointed and I'm sure your wife and son will have a good time as well.
Dingoe, Ill have the kids in tow and the wife right now is a definate maybe. There should be plenty of families up there for both your wife and the kids to hang out with and ride. Its definately going to be some great riding.
I will be without the Wife and kids, she said go and ride. I will probably do thursday night but will try for thursday day for a day ride, but we'll see.
anyone contact me for firewood. I would need some notice.
We are talking Fish creek CG not the overflow? I will be in tent w/o crapper.
Just returned from Kennedy Meadows & bummed I can't join ya'll for this ride. The weather was awesome - mid-high 70's. I was nervous about riding here as I'm low on confidence - but had a great trip. Rode my first real singletrack! Also trailered up to Monache Jeep trail & rode across the Kern river and through the meadow!
Have a great time & please post your ride reports!
I've been talking with 89er on making a one day trip there. We'll let you guys know if we are gonna do it so you can tell me where you'll be. Maybe if someone has one of the GPS dealies, you can give me the coordinates and we can meet up that way too.;) 2strok, if you are thinking of a one dayer, let me know.
