Kick start kicks back!

I have a KX100 and when I kick it, it shoots back up! I presume this is a timing issue but I don't know how to sort it.

Ive tried adjusting the stator but it still does it :( But when it starts it runs fine, apart from when your about to stall it the wheel shoots backwards. Anyone know whats up?

Sounds about normal. Hence, wear mx boots, not flip flops or scandals to try starting. The bigger bores can really hurt your foot! When you see 1 fire backwards, you have seen it all. Turn it off and restart it if it ever does happen to you. Its not defective, usually. Kick it through like you know how to start it! It is/was a high compression race engine. Vintage Bob
