Kick starter problems (89)

I have an 89 200 and have had problems with the kick starter "slipping" or "missing" when going to start the bike. I have had the bike apart and replaced the spring that pushes on the gears to grab in order to turn the motor over ......but it still wants to slip.

I just baught a 96 kdx200 and have exactly the same problem. Did you manage to fix yours? What did you have to do?

Hi there, I have just baught a kdx200 and have exactly the same problem. Did you fix yours? What did you do? Please help!

pull it apart again and you will find that you will have a nik on the crank plate which wiil stop the gears meshing use a knife stone to smooth out the mark and this will fix the problem.

Conventional 10w-30 oil in the tranny will do the trick. This is a common "problem". Try it.
